Imagination is more important than knowledge, for while knowledge points to all there is, imagination points to all there will be.

Albert Einstein

I used to draw like Raphael, but it has taken me a lifetime to learn to draw like children.

Pablo Picasso

If it hasn't been in the Hand...and the Body...it can't be in the Brain.

Bev Boss

In the early formative years, play is almost synonymous with life. It is second only to being nourished, protected, and loved. It is a basic ingredient of physical, intellectual, social, and emotional growth.

Experience

With over 60 years of combined experience in early childcare, our teachers understand that every child is special and are able to provide the tailored attention and care he/she needs.

Low Ratios

At KIN, we pride ourselves on offering a low teacher-to-child ratio ensuring your child receives the attention they need to grow and develop physically, cognitively, emotionally, and socially.

Unique Philosophy

Our program fosters social, cognitive, physical and emotional development. Through a rich and varied curriculum based on the natural sciences, it stimulates each child's curiosity about the world.

What Sets Us Apart

We feel that children learn through their purposeful play, hands-on experiences, social interactions, and their sensory input. KIN kids get messy — through art, sensory play, experiments, and interacting with nature. We subscribe to the philosophy that if it hasn’t been in a child’s hands, it isn’t in their brains.
KIN and KIN, too are located in two separate, 100 year old houses full of charm in Durham, North Carolina near the Duke University main campus. We have spacious playgrounds with a variety of structures and activities that provide ample opportunities for exploration, development, and most importantly fun.
KIN and KIN, too teachers are experienced professionals that truly love the children they care for. We pride ourselves on fostering a family-like environment and maintain relationships with our KIN families and alumni for years after the children have moved on to the next phases of their educational lives.
